A little tour of my reading space today!

I love reading on my couch, cuddled with my puppy Luna, especially in rainy and cloudy weather! Right now I have my iPad out so I can scroll through chapters on NetGalley. I also have my Kindle if I decide to switch. I have snacks, coffee, and my electrolyte water in my cup.

I also have some ambience on my tv to fit my current read. Which is the new edited and updated version of Overmorrow by Lancelot Shaubert which comes out very soon on August 11!

What do you typically snack on when you read?

... Read moreHey fellow bookworms! We all dream of that perfect "aesthetic reading corner," a personal sanctuary where we can get lost in a good book. While social media often shows us perfectly curated spaces, remember that true aesthetic comes from comfort, personalization, and what truly makes you happy. Let me share some tips on how you can craft your very own cozy book nook, whether it's Instagram-ready or your perfectly lived-in, "unaesthetic" haven. First, focus on comfort as your foundation. Think about your seating. Do you prefer sinking into a plush armchair, or perhaps a comfy recliner couch like the one I love? Add soft throw blankets and pillows to make it extra inviting. A good reading nook isn't just about looks; it's about feeling utterly relaxed. Next, consider your lighting. Natural light is amazing, especially if you can nestle by a window with a view of green trees. For evenings, a warm-toned lamp is essential. Dimmable options allow you to set the perfect mood for any story, from thrilling mysteries to cozy romances. Now for the personal touches that make it truly yours. A sturdy side table is a must-have for all your essentials. Mine holds my current drink – whether it's coffee in a favorite mug or water in a functional green tumbler – and maybe a small vase of flowers to brighten the space. Think about your sensory experience. Beyond lighting, what about sound? I adore using ambient sounds, like the "Cloud Hotel ASMR Ambience" from Miracle Forest, to truly immerse myself. You could try gentle rain sounds, crackling fireplaces, or soft instrumental music. And don't forget scents! A subtle candle or diffuser with a calming aroma can elevate your reading experience. What about your reading companions? Beyond a furry friend like my puppy Luna, your devices play a big role. Keep your iPad charged for NetGalley browsing or your Kindle ready for endless stories. Having both options means you're always prepared, no matter your reading mood. And let's not forget the snacks! While I'm a fan of cheese curd snacks, any little treat can make reading even more enjoyable. A small blue notebook for jotting down thoughts, or even a basket with colorful yarn if you enjoy crafting while listening to audiobooks, adds a layer of functionality and personality. The beauty of creating your own reading corner is that it doesn't have to fit a rigid definition of "aesthetic." It's about crafting a space that calls to *you*. Maybe your idea of aesthetic is a pile of books on the floor, or a designated spot on your couch that's perfectly worn in. That's perfectly fine! The magic happens when you feel inspired and comfortable enough to dive into stories. So, gather your favorite books, your coziest blanket, and perhaps a warm drink, and start building your ultimate bookish escape. Happy reading!
