Baby milestones in their first year!
🌙 When did your baby hit all of their milestones?
🌙 My second baby started walking a couple weeks ago at 9.5-10 months old. My first baby didn’t walk till after her first birth at 14 months! My second baby has been hitting all of his milestones earlier than my first baby so far.
🌙 I have learned since having my first baby that baby walkers, jumpers or bouncers are bad for their hip development and can delay walking. Limit time in them or even better, avoid them. Get a push walker instead. If you’re worried about them falling, then they aren’t ready to use it yet. They should be standing up on their own, holding onto things to help balance them and keep them standing, taking steps holding onto your hands or other objects and good control of their body.
🌙 I didn’t use any walkers for my second baby that wasn’t a push one and I didn’t use any jumpers. That is one of the only differences between my first and second baby. But a HUGE difference with their development!
✨• Did your baby hit their milestones earlier or later than the recommended timeframe?
✨• Are you pro-vax or anti-vax and if you switched did you notice a difference between your babies?
✨• Were they full term baby’s or pre term?
✨• Did you use baby walkers, jumpers and/or bouncers for your baby?

Tracking your baby's milestones in the first year can be such a rewarding yet sometimes nerve-wracking experience. From my own journey, I found that each child grows at their unique pace, but knowing general milestone windows can provide reassurance. For instance, by 0-3 months, babies typically lift their heads and start cooing. Between 4-7 months, rolling over and sitting with support usually happen, while 8-12 months often bring crawling, standing, cruising along furniture, and the beginning of simple words like "mama" or "dada". One crucial insight I gained was about the use of baby walkers, jumpers, and bouncers. Although tempting for busy parents, these devices can negatively impact healthy hip development and delay walking. Instead, I opted for a push walker which encouraged my baby to stand and move independently, promoting balance and muscle strength. I also observed that my baby needed to be ready—showing signs like pulling up to stand and holding onto objects—before safely using a push walker. Babies' milestone timing can vary due to multiple factors, including whether they are full-term or pre-term. Premature babies might reach these milestones later but generally catch up over time. Additionally, discussions around vaccinations and developmental progress can influence parental decisions and observations, though each child reacts differently. From personal experience, engaging in interactive games such as peek-a-boo and spending ample floor time encourages motor skills and social development. Tracking these milestones while being mindful of your baby’s individual readiness helps avoid unnecessary pressure and supports a healthy, happy growth journey.
