Managing a team efficiently often comes with its challenges, and feeling overwhelmed is all too common for managers striving to keep everything on track. One personal strategy I’ve found invaluable is learning to distinguish between true emergencies and less urgent tasks. By asking myself if ignoring a task for 24 hours would cause serious consequences—like someone losing their job or legal issues—I can confidently delay less critical work without guilt. This helps me focus my energy where it truly matters. Another life-changing habit is leveraging technology to reduce the cognitive load. Instead of manually organizing every note, email, or task, I use AI-driven tools to dump all my information into a single searchable system. This has saved me hours that were previously wasted digging through folders or inboxes. I also battled perfectionism for a long time, which slowed me down significantly. Now, I aim to complete most tasks to a solid "B-" level—about 90% good enough—rather than perfect. I reserve perfectionism only for the two or three critical projects each week that genuinely need meticulous attention. This approach has freed up mental space and reduced unnecessary stress. Finally, when the anxiety builds up, instead of scrolling on my phone—which tends to worsen my mental state—I step outside for a few moments to disconnect. Simply gazing at a tree or nature can snap me out of the panic loop much faster than trying to think my way out of stress. These strategies have transformed the way I manage my workload and maintain calm throughout busy days. They help maintain both productivity and mental well-being, which is essential for effective leadership.
