They took my gallbladder!

• You may experience extreme neck/shoulder pain after surgery (gas release)

• Your body will have to relearn to process food.

• Bathroom struggles are real after.

• You will need help for a few days after. I was sore for a very long time.

Take it easy. I was told 10 times before my surgery that it was such an easy recovery and super fast. However. I was sore for 6 weeks. Not excruciating but sore. So just keep that in mind. The biggest thing for me was the neck and shoulder pain. That was brutal but I was told it doesn’t happen to everyone so maybe you’ll get lucky if you have this procedure. Eat clean after and make sure you have help!

... Read moreOne thing I wish I had known before my gallbladder surgery was how much my body would struggle to adjust afterward. It's not just about the surgery site; you might experience persistent neck and shoulder pain, which can be quite intense. This pain is likely related to the gas used during laparoscopic surgery and can last several weeks. The digestive system also needs time to relearn how to process food properly without your gallbladder. Many people, like myself, face digestive discomfort and bathroom troubles during the initial recovery phase. Eating clean, light meals and avoiding greasy or heavy foods really helped ease my symptoms. Help is essential after this surgery. Simple tasks may feel overwhelming while you recover, so having a support system in place is highly recommended. Additionally, take it slow and allow your body the time it needs to heal—expect soreness for up to six weeks, even if the surgery was labeled as 'quick and easy.' For those concerned about scarring or infection, keeping your laparoscopic incision clean and monitoring for signs of infection is crucial. Following your surgeon’s aftercare instructions closely can help avoid complications. Remember, everyone’s experience is different. While some may breeze through recovery, others may face similar hurdles. Sharing these experiences and tips can prepare you well and make the journey smoother.
