The apostle of grace did not condemn works!

Paragould
2/16 Edited to

... Read moreIn many theological discussions, especially among Baptists, Presbyterians, and Calvinists, the relationship between faith, works, and salvation often sparks intense debate. From personal experience studying scripture and engaging with various Christian traditions, I’ve found it helpful to view 'works' not as a means to earn salvation, but as an evidence or outcome of genuine faith. Paul, known as the Apostle of Grace, emphasizes in Ephesians 2:8-9 that salvation is a gift from God—a result of grace received through faith, not a product of works that we accomplish. This doesn’t diminish the importance of works but places them in their proper context. Faith itself can be understood as an active trust or commitment, which is sometimes described as a 'work' because it involves action and choice. When Paul says believers are baptized into Christ's death (Romans 6:3), it symbolizes dying to the old self and being reborn into a new life aligned with God's will. This transformation naturally leads to good works, not as a condition to earn salvation, but as a demonstration of a changed heart. This perspective has profoundly impacted my approach to spirituality, reducing the pride or boasting in personal achievements while encouraging active discipleship. Moreover, exploring the hashtag conversation around #baptist, #calvinism, and #salvation reveals the rich diversity in understanding these concepts. Engaging with these communities can broaden one’s understanding and deepen faith practice. In essence, the Apostle of Grace did not condemn works but clarified their role: works flow from faith as a reflection of God’s grace, not as a prerequisite for receiving it.

A digital image resembling an ancient scroll displays text asking, 'Are you really following the commandments of the Lord?' It quotes 1 Corinthians 14:37 KJV, stating Paul's writings are the Lord's commandments. The image also asserts that rejecting Paul is rejecting Christ, and mentions salvation by grace through faith, not works, and that Jesus sent Paul, whose epistles are Romans through Philemon.
DO WE STUDY ONLY PAUL’S EPISTLES? “If Paul is our apostle [yes, he is; Romans 11:13], does that mean that we study only his epistles, Romans through Philemon? Does that mean that only Paul’s writings are inspired of God? What about the rest of Scripture? Is not all of the Bible God’s Word? Are y
