Ruler Quilting ClassDay 2 & 3

Learning to quilt with rulers, I’m getting a little better at it. I’m sticking with 2 rulers and following along with the class.

My death grip on the rulerr is getting better, I only shreaded the thread once today, I did have some variations to

the patterns though. That actually means I got distracted and my lines were not where they were supposed to be.

It’s part of the learning process & I know with practice it will get better.

I put my sewing machine back together when I finished today. I need to work on some

other stuff for Christmas! I had a 3 day streak though!

... Read moreQuilting with rulers is an essential technique for any aspiring quilter, and it comes with its own challenges and rewards. Beginners can often feel overwhelmed, but it’s all part of the learning curve. As you continue practicing, your finger grip on the ruler becomes more relaxed, reducing thread shredding incidents. Tips to improve include keeping your lines straight by focusing on small segments at a time, which can prevent distractions and uneven patterns. A variety of rulers are available, and each can create different effects. It's advisable to start with a couple of rulers that you're comfortable with. Using a walking foot on your sewing machine can make a significant difference, providing better control while you quilt. Remember to take breaks to avoid fatigue which can lead to mistakes. Consider joining quilting communities online or in-person, like those associated with #sillymoonquiltingco and #quiltingwithrulers, to share experiences and gather tips from fellow quilters. These connections can be invaluable for advice and encouragement, especially when tackling more complex projects like free motion quilting (FMQ) and intricate ruler designs. Keep practicing, and soon you'll be turning your quilts into stunning masterpieces!
