Y’all! This really resonated with me today. I struggle with worry, sometimes to the extent of creating worry out of nothing. I feel this is something a lot of people do, but especially us women. As y’all go about your day today try and keep these verses in the forefront of your minds. Honestly Matthew 6:25-7:11 speaks so much on us not giving thought on what we need, that the Lord already knows and is working for our good. #worry#godprovides

... Read moreIt's incredible how a few verses can truly anchor your soul when the waves of worry and overthinking threaten to drown you. I know that feeling all too well – that constant mental loop, creating scenarios that haven't even happened, and feeling completely overwhelmed even when things are calm. It's a struggle many of us face daily, and it can be exhausting. That's why I wanted to share a little more about how these specific passages from Matthew have become my personal lifeline, especially for everyone who struggles with worry.
When we look at Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus is telling us plainly, 'Do not worry about your life.' He points to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field – they don't sow or reap, yet God cares for them immensely. He asks, 'Are you not much more valuable than they?' This isn't about ignoring our responsibilities, but about shifting our focus from anxious control to faithful trust. Matthew 6:34, in particular, is a powerful reminder: 'Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.' For me, this means taking things one day at a time, literally. When I feel my mind racing to future problems, I pause and consciously bring myself back to the present moment, trusting that today's grace is sufficient for today's challenges.
Then, there's Matthew 7:7-8: 'Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.' This is where prayer becomes so vital. When I'm overwhelmed with anxiety, I've learned to take those swirling thoughts and turn them into a prayer. It’s not just about asking for specific outcomes, but about surrendering my worries to a God who listens and cares. The handwritten notes I keep often include simple prayers like, 'Lord, I give you this worry about [specific concern]. Help me trust Your plan and find Your peace.' Just the act of articulating it and giving it over can bring immense relief.
Beyond these beautiful verses, I’ve found comfort in other scriptures too. For instance, Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.' This reinforces the power of prayer and gratitude in battling anxiety. Also, remembering Psalm 23, 'The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,' helps me lean into the assurance of God's provision and guidance.
So, if you’re finding yourself caught in the cycle of anxiety and overthinking, I truly hope these verses and thoughts can offer you some comfort and a practical path forward. Keep Matthew 6:34 and 7:7-8 close to your heart, remember to pray, and trust that you are deeply valued. God provides, and He is always working for your good.
