What They Never Taught Us About Emotions

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is more than just a trendy buzzword—it’s the foundation for healthy relationships, self-growth, and inner peace. Lately, I’ve been journaling about the 5 key cornerstones of EQ, and it’s helped me understand myself on a deeper level. So I wanted to share them with you:

1. Self-Awareness – Recognizing your emotions as they happen. It’s the first step in understanding your inner world and how it affects your actions.

2. Self-Regulation – Not every feeling needs a reaction. Learning to pause before reacting is powerful.

3. Motivation – Having an inner drive that’s not just based on external rewards. It’s about waking up and choosing to show up—for yourself.

4. Empathy – Truly understanding what someone else feels, not just hearing but feeling with them.

5. Social Skills – Being able to communicate, connect, and resolve conflict in a healthy way.

I used to think emotional intelligence was only about being “nice” or “calm,” but it’s so much more layered. The more I dive into it, the more I realize how these skills are the quiet superpowers that help us grow in every area of life—from love to career to self-worth.

Question for you:

Which of these areas do you struggle with most right now? Be honest—with yourself and with me. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Every doctor told me I was iron deficient and to just take more iron. I did, but I stayed tired, nauseous, and bloated. My hair kept shedding, my nails were brittle with ridges that drove me crazy, and nothing changed. Iron wasn’t the answer. The missing piece is what finally transformed my nail
