I liked the first book… but book 2 almost lost me 👀

I liked the first book… I was hooked.

Book 2?

I’m not even gonna lie… I had to listen to it AND read it just to stay into it.

But I didn’t give up.

Now I’m on the last book in the series, and I actually want to see how it all comes together.

This series really reminded me that:

not every book hits the same…

sometimes you just adjust how you experience it.

📖✨

Did you like book 2 or was it just me? 👀

3/31 Edited to

... Read moreI’ve found that when a second book in a series doesn’t immediately captivate me, adjusting how I engage with the story makes all the difference. In this case, listening to the audiobook version while following along with the text helped me connect with the pacing and character development that felt slower when only reading. This experience reminded me how important flexibility is when diving into longer series. Not every installment will hit the same — some may have different tones or slower plots that test your patience. Yet, the payoff often comes in the final book, where threads come together and the story’s depth is revealed. Interestingly, the images in the original post mention "The Housemaid" series by Freida McFadden, a New York Times bestseller soon to be a major motion picture. This series is known for its gripping suspense and secrets behind closed doors. If you’re struggling with any middle book in a thriller series like this, trying multiple formats (audiobook, e-book, or physical copy) can renew your interest. Overall, my takeaway is that perseverance can turn a nearly lost interest into a satisfying conclusion. Also, it’s worth sharing your struggles with the community – you often discover others had similar experiences and helpful tips. Have you ever had a book in a series slow you down but ultimately found that the story was worth finishing? What methods helped you stay engaged?
