🧐If your parents can't speak Eng, can you be good at the language?🤷🏻‍♀️

"U Accent is so good. Have you studied Inter since childhood?"

"I want you to be good at this language. How do parents teach?"

"You can't send your children to a foreign tech course."

This is a very often received question, but actually, Bae does not learn Inter, but children, parents are not good at the language, no one to practice speaking, and never go to a foreign language course. All the English skills with him are accumulated gradually from children 👏🏻, so I want to share personal experiences to be useful to parents and children who want to practice the language by themselves.

The parents are not good at the language, just listen to understand, but they want us to speak English well for a good future, but our home is not rich enough to send children to Inter 🥹, so we started by listening to international music from childhood, which can not be heard, but absorbed the pronunciation in different tones.

When I entered kindergarten 3, I was forced to "recite the vocabulary every day," and this mother had to sit down and find the vocabulary that was appropriate for our age, as well as the pronunciation and translation for us to recite. At first, I was a bit bent because I couldn't remember. I was scolded, complained, hit some 😭, tortured like I had to do quiz every day before I ate, watched cartoons, did this for elementary school.

But this became the foundation for us to like learning English! ✨

Because in elementary school, there are foreign teachers teaching at school, when we know more words than friends, so become good at the room, we feel that we understand what the teacher speaks, even if not all, but capture the heart. When we do well, we like this subject implicitly 💕. After that, there is no need for anyone to force or nag. Baek, come back to the movies, write new words, practice listening, translate articles. Everything we do is because of personal preference. We want to be better, want to listen, speak, read, write like a native speaker. ☺️

When my parents saw that we were doing well, they wanted to encourage us to become better by sticking to cable TV, allowing us to watch channels that are important and listen to English all the time, such as History Channel / National Geographic. In addition to our language, we also got to study English on Saturdays. 💜

From the pre-school test, he got a level of 6 out of 8. It was very basic. Now he had a conversation with a foreign teacher and learned gramma to enhance authenticity... It was lucky that we chose to do this because in class we would meet many people who were tight grammar but not good at speaking 🥹 because they thought in Thai first. After translating in the head, they were worried that they didn't dare to speak, but instead they thought in English. They spoke using the vocabulary in the head together first without fear of being wrong, which the teacher gradually helped us to adjust the sentence later.

After graduating from level 8, he practiced by himself (because he didn't know what to learn next 😂). He continued to watch movies and listen to music in English, practicing listening without opening the liner. When he found a word that couldn't really be heard, he looked at the Eng sub and wrote down the words to find meaning, allowing us to listen to English as people speak in real life, not as strange as a class book. The best thing is that we almost never have to read this subject (except when taking the grammar exam), because every time he reads a question, the brain seems to have an answer for us... Guess that that sentence would be familiar from a movie that we've watched. 😚

Finally, even if my parents can't speak English with us, but I think that we can create speaking skills and accents from the media that we watch as well ✨. Because I grew up with movies, series and TV programs on the American side, the accent will go out in America by default. Looking back, I am very grateful to my parents that although the house is not rich, I invested in studying us in every way I can 💕 with my language skills since childhood, so I don't have to get tired when I grow up, and I can finally get into international universities.

I hope this post can be helpful and encouraging to many people. How can everyone practice the language? Can share. 🫶🏻
