Hi 👋 I don’t think I introduced myself…
I realized I’ve shared a whole lot of my life here without ever really introducing myself. 🩷
So… hi. I’m Shelly.
Somehow this little corner of the internet has become part greenhouse, part garden, part dogs, part travel, part creating things, and a whole lot of figuring out what life looks like when you give yourself permission to try something different.
The last year hasn’t looked anything like I expected it to. But somewhere along the way, I built this greenhouse, found some new adventures, learned a lot about myself, and started finding joy in little things again.
So if you’re new here, welcome Outside the Pink Door. 🌸
And if you’ve been here awhile… thank you for sticking around while I figure out what comes next. 🩷
Ask me anything — what do you want to know?

Over the past year, Shelly's life has taken unexpected turns that many of us can relate to—facing anxiety, making time for self-care, and pursuing passions that reignite joy. Taking time off from her long-term postal service job, Shelly bravely navigated the challenges of panic attacks and mental health struggles that began in November, choosing to prioritize healing and growth. One of the highlights of this transformative period was building her very own greenhouse—a tangible symbol of new beginnings and nurturing life. The experience of creating this green space not only brought physical activity and purpose but also a peaceful sanctuary for reflection and rejuvenation. Gardening has been shown to reduce stress and improve mood, which likely contributed to Shelly’s journey toward rediscovering joy. Shelly also welcomed a new dog into her life, bringing companionship and unconditional love during challenging times. Pets can play a vital role in easing feelings of anxiety and isolation. Alongside her personal projects, Shelly traveled outside the country for the first time in years, opening her perspectives and adding fresh stories to share. Her story resonates with anyone facing midlife transitions—proving that giving yourself permission to try something different can lead to unexpected happiness. Shelly’s honest sharing encourages a community of support and curiosity, inviting readers to ask questions and connect over shared experiences. If you’re inspired by gardening, managing anxiety, or seeking second-chapter adventures, Shelly’s ongoing journey offers practical insights and heartfelt moments.
