... Read moreReading can be a challenging endeavor, especially for those who struggle with focus. If you find it difficult to stay engaged, there are several strategies you can employ to enhance your reading experience. Firstly, consider creating a comfortable reading environment free from distractions. This can include finding a quiet space, minimizing noise, and even setting aside dedicated reading time in your schedule. Some readers find that using headphones to play soft background music or white noise can help them concentrate better. When selecting a book, choose titles that have garnered positive reviews or prestigious accolades such as the Man Booker Prize, as these can often draw you in more effectively. Additionally, participating in reading challenges or joining book clubs can provide motivation and accountability, making it easier to stick with a book. For those with ADHD, implementing structured reading sessions might prove beneficial. Breaking your reading time into smaller intervals can reduce overwhelm and fatigue. Utilize tools such as bookmarks or reading apps that track your progress and help you stay engaged. Remember that reading should be an enjoyable experience, so don't hesitate to explore different genres and formats to find what captivates you most. With these tips, you'll be well on your way to enjoying and finishing the books you love.

I struggle with reading with ADHD too. Unfortunately I have no suggestions. I do know that classical or piano music seems to help sometimes. The only suggestion I have is maybe try changing to a different genre. That won’t necessarily help any though considering I struggle even with my favorite genre.

I struggled with this for SO LONG!!! The only thing that helped me was; 1)switching genres and actually reading a book that I really truly enjoyed and 2)changing my surroundings. I can really only sit down and read when I have no distractions around me and usually I play some piano or classical music in the background!
