The second pillar of @New Therapist Network🪴 is “Connect”🫶🏾

-

This work can be isolating and not everyone is blessed with great supervision or peers they can talk to. Especially when you’re in private practice you go from having people around you all the time, to sometimes no one at all.

In the network, we’ve built systems to create an sustaining connection:

🗣️ Case Consult Corner: or you can ask for feedback and resources about sessions, you might be struggling with

🫶🏾 The Gathering Space: for check-in and chitchats about what’s happening in life, how you’re doing in a space to just be a human.

💬 Community Chat: for all your vulnerable moments when you’re just looking for someone else who gets it

💻 Body Doubling: monthly virtual body doubling sessions because case notes are hard, and sometimes you just need someone to work beside.

Next, we we’ll talk about the grow pillar🪴 we launch in 4 days!

... Read moreWorking as a therapist, especially in private practice, can often feel isolating despite the rewarding nature of the work. From my own experience, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one facing challenges such as self-doubt or managing complex client cases without immediate support. Having a system that encourages connection makes all the difference. The New Therapist Network’s focus on creating a community where therapists can share struggles and receive feedback really resonates with me. I found the concept of 'Body Doubling' particularly helpful—as someone who sometimes procrastinates on administrative tasks like case notes, knowing others are working beside me virtually creates accountability and reduces overwhelm. Aside from work-focused spaces like the Case Consult Corner, the availability of casual spaces such as The Gathering Space for simply checking in as a human is invaluable. It reminds me that beyond our roles, we all need moments of empathy and understanding from peers who truly get the professional and emotional demands of therapy. The network’s thoughtful design tackles the loneliness that’s often underestimated in therapy roles, particularly for those who transition from academic settings or team environments into solo practice. Sharing resources, experiences, and vulnerabilities in a supportive community structure adds a layer of resilience for therapists. It also fosters professional growth by enabling timely advice and collaborative problem-solving. Ultimately, designing connection intentionally rather than waiting for it to happen organically is empowering. It reassures me and others that even when feeling like an imposter or overwhelmed, support is accessible. I look forward to learning about the upcoming 'Grow' pillar and how it complements this foundational support by addressing the business aspects often missed in graduate training.
