One common pattern I’ve seen is the difficulty in trusting others enough to ask for or accept help, because the internalized message was often that their needs were secondary or insignificant. It's critical to recognize that ease in physical or behavioral demands during childhood doesn’t equate to having no emotional needs. In fact, it might mean these needs were less visible but equally, if not more, important. Healing involves learning to identify and honor these needs and breaking the cycle of relentless self-reliance. If you recognize yourself in this dynamic, consider small steps such as journaling your feelings, reaching out to trusted friends or a therapist, and practicing vulnerability in safe spaces. Remember, emotional needs are valid and deserve attention just as much as physical ones. Over time, developing this awareness can lead to healthier relationships and a more balanced sense of self beyond the "easy child" role.
