3 ways to reset your routine when life throws you💜
It’s no secret that life has its way of throwing curveballs, and I feel like I’ve had more than my fair share of them over the past few years. Some might say that would make me uniquely qualified at the good old Reset.
Lucky for you, I’ve never gatekeeped a day in my life 🤣 you can tell me my shoes are cute and you’ll know where I found them and how much they cost before I get to saying thank you 🤣🤣
Anyways, here are my personal top 3 ways to reset when life knocks your socks off 💜
1) start small, build habits. In the beginning it can be so easy to go balls to the wall and try to accomplish all of the things all at once- unfortunately, we just aren’t quite wired to do everything all at once. Instead, break it down into manageable bites. Choose a few things to tackle at first. You can always add on once you’re more confident with your foundation of those first few habits!
2) bring back the nonnegotiables! Everyone has different nonnegotiables but a good place to start would be checking your water intake, making sure you’re eating an adequate amount and getting a decent amount of nutrients, moving your body a little bit each day, and a little brain health. If one of these areas are lacking, congratulations- you’ve now find one of your small habits to work on from step 1!
3) romanticize the reset, because in short - life is too short not to enjoy it. Do what you can to make wellness fun. Listen to an audiobook or a podcast while you get some movement in, bonus points if it’s outside (fresh air, sunshine, and what not). Light a candle and write in your journal like your a novelist writing about your own life. Find a meal you saved and forgot to make, and actually make it. Curate some new playlists for a new era.
Resetting can be hard, it feels a lot like starting over, and that can feel frustrating and demeaning in a way. The good news is, all of that pressure is coming from yourself. Don’t let your inner mean girl keep you from moving onward and upward, you deserve the greener grass in life 💜
