What apps actually deserve your Home Screen? 👀

I’m very picky about what lives on my front page… like these apps have to earn their spot 😭✨ So here are my non-negotiables + why they stay. Minimal, functional, and very “I need my life together but cutely.”

🌸 What’s on my Home Screen

• Calendar widget — my brain’s external hard drive.

• Color Widgets photo widgets — because a little aesthetic motivation never hurts.

• My 4 out-of-folder essentials:

Lemon8, Amazon, Safari, Pinterest (my daily rotation).

📂 Folder 1: Socials & Chat

Reddit, Messages, Discord, TikTok, YouTube, ChatGPT

→ Everything that keeps me entertained or informed.

📂 Folder 2: Shopping & Deals

Cash App, UNiDAYS, App Store, Student Beans, Bath & Body Works, Best Buy, BankMobile, Wisely, Sephora

→ My “spend money but also save money” hub.

📂 Folder 3: Productivity & Life Admin

Phone, Gmail, Reminders, Calendar, Calculator, Settings, Files, Mail, Notes

→ The grown-up section (ugh) but necessary.

📂 Folder 4: Content & Media

Music, Photos, Google Photos, Camera, TikTok Studio, YouTube Studio, Final Cut Pro Camera, Google Sheets

→ My creator corner 💗 Everything I need to create on the go.

🧁 Widgets Page

Two Color Widgets widgets + Reminder widgets to keep my schedule clean, aesthetic, and visible so I don’t mentally disintegrate mid-week 💀✨

💜 Mini Must-Knows

1️⃣ Visual balance matters

Place your heaviest or most-used apps lower or center to keep the page visually calm.

2️⃣ Widgets = less tapping

The right widgets reduce how often you dig through apps. Instant clarity → less screen overwhelm.

3️⃣ Folders with intention

Name them by function, not random categories. It helps you find things instantly.

Save this for your next home screen reset 💜

Follow for more simple + cute tech inspo ✨

... Read moreOrganizing your iPhone Home Screen is more than just a way to display apps; it’s a lifestyle choice that balances function and style. From personal experience and common usage trends, apps like Calendar serve as a crucial external memory aid, helping users keep track of daily commitments effortlessly. Photo widget apps like Color Widgets add a dash of personalization and motivation by displaying favorite images or inspiring quotes, making your phone feel more inviting and less cluttered. When selecting which apps deserve a home on your primary screen, consider your daily interaction frequency and essential needs. For example, apps like Lemon8, Amazon, Safari, and Pinterest naturally earn their place due to their prominent use in browsing, shopping, and inspiration. Grouping other apps into well-labeled folders based on function — such as Social & Chat, Shopping & Deals, Productivity & Life Admin, and Content & Media — helps streamline your navigation and reduces time spent searching for tools across multiple screens. Furthermore, widgets play a strategic role in reducing taps and providing at-a-glance information. Using reminder and calendar widgets effectively minimizes cognitive load and prevents mental fatigue, keeping your schedule visible to avoid midweek overwhelm. Visual balance on the Home Screen is also important; placing your most-used or heavy apps centrally or lower on the screen can create a calmer, more organized appearance. In terms of integrating apps like Bank and Sephora, which appear in your shopping and deal folder, taking advantage of apps that combine spending with saving, such as Cash App and UNiDAYS, provides both convenience and financial mindfulness. For creators, having a dedicated content and media folder including apps like TikTok Studio and Final Cut Pro Camera allows seamless content creation on the go. Ultimately, a thoughtfully curated Home Screen that includes vital apps, intentional folders, and strategic widgets can enhance both productivity and aesthetic appeal, reflecting not only your tech-savviness but also your daily lifestyle priorities. Consider a regular home screen reset to refine and adapt your app layout as your needs evolve.
