Lasik eye surgery anyone?

I am scared and excited at the same time, am I making the right decision by getting it?

Trigger warning ⚠️

•How it works:

A small flap is created on the cornea using a laser or blade, then a laser reshapes the cornea underneath the flap to improve vision. The flap is repositioned afterward.

•What it treats:

Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

•Pros:

Quick recovery (1-2 days), minimal discomfort.

... Read moreOkay, so I've been wearing glasses since I was a kid, and let me tell you, the struggle is real! Waking up and fumbling for them, foggy lenses, or constant contact irritation – it impacts daily life. That living room scene viewed through glasses? That's my everyday reality! Lately, I’ve been seriously contemplating LASIK, a mix of terrified and incredibly hopeful. It feels like such a huge step. I've been doing tons of research, asking everyone who's had it, much like ‘Girl Talk’ in the image. Is this truly the right move for my eyes? Before surgery, there’s a whole process of consultation and evaluation. My doctor explained everything – a thorough eye exam, checking prescription, corneal thickness, and overall eye health. I even had to stop wearing contacts for weeks before screening for accurate measurements. It felt daunting, but reassuring they were so meticulous. Don't be afraid to ask a million questions; it's your vision, after all! I haven't had my LASIK surgery yet, but I've heard so many stories. Most say the procedure itself is incredibly quick – often less than 10 minutes per eye! You're usually awake, with numbing drops and sometimes a mild sedative. The thought still makes me nervous, but knowing it’s over fast is comforting. Afterward, you're advised to go straight home and rest, keeping eyes closed. It’s common to feel irritation, like an eyelash, and vision might be blurry right away. The 'quick recovery (1-2 days)' is a huge draw, but there's more to it. You'll likely need various eye drops – antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and lubricating – for several weeks. Protective shields are worn, especially for sleeping, to prevent rubbing. Follow-up appointments are crucial. Things like swimming, heavy exercise, and eye makeup are usually off-limits. Be patient with healing and diligently follow post-op instructions. While vision improves quickly, it can take months to fully stabilize. Some experience temporary dry eyes, glare, or halos, but these usually resolve. Imagine finally seeing that TV clearly in the living room without glasses! So, am I making the right decision for my LASIK journey? I'm still weighing everything, but hearing about others' freedom from glasses and contacts is incredibly motivating. The idea of waking up and just seeing clearly, or going for a swim without worry, feels amazing. It's a significant investment, but the potential for improved quality of life seems huge. If you're on a similar path, do your research, talk to your doctor, and listen to your gut. It's a big step, but hopefully, one towards clearer vision and a more convenient life!

I used to work at an eye center that preformed lasik eye surgery. People were very happy with getting lasik done. They especially liked that they could wake up and see without having to put contacts/glasses in/on. I wish I could have it done but unfortunately my eyes didn’t qualify due to being too blind haha!

I am terrified of lasik lol thanks to final destination that has ruined a lot of things for me 😂 but I like the idea I don't think I would be a good candidate I can't even wear contacts lol

So! I’m getting my procedure through insurance, which makes me very lucky. The entire surgery is fully covered with my eye care plan. My advice to anyone going through this method? Don’t be shaken if anyone tries to say “that doesn’t happen”, “insurance doesn’t cover that sort of thing”, etc. It’s

Your body is always speaking—listen. A few months ago, I underwent vaginal surgery after months of pain that was constantly dismissed. Doctors told me it was “just irritation” or “probably an STD or BV (it wasn’t). But I knew something wasn’t right. I advocated for myself, pushed for testing, a
