👄 This , 🌹This, or That💋 - Comparing Lip Balms ( as a Glossier employee)
Yo!
👀Welcome or welcome back! I’m a Glossier employee, bringing you my honest reviews of products I use in my daily life.
💄Balm Dotcom by Glossier is probably my most FAVORITE products at Glossier. I will always recommend it to newcomers and they remind me of Lip Smackers (a bit of nostalgia). I love that we are able to give them a little keychain and now I have about five different ones, depending on my vibes I’ll use a particular one. They’re flavorful, lightly pigmented, and moisture my lips, keeping them soft. I always ask my guests “ if you were to kiss yourself, which flavor would you want to kiss?” 🫦
🙈Rosy Lips by Vaseline and Aquaphor Lip Repair are great alternatives! The Aquaphor Lip Repair compares to the original plain Balm Dotcom and I use it every night. It leaves my lips feeling nice and moisturized in the morning after a night of rest and marination. Sick, well, or whatever, it heals my lips like no other! The Rosy Lips by Vaseline is a cheap and tinted alternative to the Balm Dotcoms. It is a quarter of the price of a single Balm Dotcom, comes in a cute little tub, and is super tiny and cute. I feel like I need to reapply more often but it’s definitely a great, budget-friendly, everyday option.
🎀Do you prefer balms, glosses, or lipsticks? Have you used any of these balms before? If so, which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments, and let’s be sisters! 🎀
... Read moreHey lip care lovers! Building on the comparisons of some popular lip balms, I wanted to dive a little deeper into how these beloved products stack up, especially for those of us always on the hunt for the perfect pout. We’ve talked about Glossier Balm Dotcom, Aquaphor Lip Repair, and Vaseline Rosy Lips, but what about another fan-favorite often thrown into the mix: the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask? Let’s break down my personal experiences with these top contenders.
First off, Glossier’s Balm Dotcom holds a special place. I love the variety of flavors and how they give a subtle tint, making my lips feel happy and moisturized throughout the day. The packaging, often a "purple tube" or "blue/white tube" depending on the flavor, is super cute and portable. Priced at around $16 USD, it’s definitely a treat, but for me, the nostalgic feel and effective hydration make it worthwhile. It's a thicker, almost waxy balm that really creates a barrier, keeping moisture locked in. I find myself reaching for different flavors depending on my mood, and they truly give that "kissable" feel.
Then there’s Aquaphor Lip Repair, my nightly staple. This "blue/white tube" is truly a miracle worker for healing chapped lips overnight. While it might not have the fun flavors or tints of Glossier, its no-nonsense, deeply moisturizing properties are unmatched for serious hydration. It feels more like an ointment than a balm, providing intense repair. At about $6 USD, it's incredibly budget-friendly for the stellar results it delivers. I wake up with soft, plump lips every single time. It’s definitely my top pick for recovery and maintenance.
For those looking for a pop of color without breaking the bank, Vaseline Rosy Lips in its adorable "orange tub" is a fantastic find. At around $4 USD, it's the most affordable option and gives a lovely, sheer pink tint. While I do find myself reapplying it more often than the others, its convenience and subtle enhancement make it perfect for quick touch-ups on the go. It’s a lighter, gel-like texture compared to the thicker balms, making it feel less heavy but still providing a good layer of moisture. It’s a great everyday alternative if you want that hint of color and hydration.
Now, let's talk about the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. This product is often compared, not just to traditional balms, but also to overnight treatments. What sets it apart is its unique berry mix complex and texture – it's like a luxurious, slightly sticky, melting balm specifically designed for extended wear. While the others are fantastic for daily or targeted repair, the Laneige mask (often in a small tub, typically priced around $20-$24 USD) is a powerhouse for intensive overnight hydration. I've found it truly transforms my lips, making them incredibly soft and supple by morning. It’s not necessarily a direct competitor to a daily tinted balm like Glossier or Vaseline, but rather an enhancement to a lip care routine, offering a deeper treatment.
When comparing them all, consider your needs. If you want a fun, flavored, lightly tinted daily balm with good moisture, Glossier is wonderful, though it's on the higher end of the "lip care products" spectrum. For serious healing and overnight restoration at a great value, Aquaphor is unbeatable. If a budget-friendly, tinted option for quick hydration is your priority, Vaseline Rosy Lips is a gem. And if you're ready to invest in an intensive overnight treatment for ultimate lip pampering, Laneige is a game-changer. Each has its strengths, and honestly, having a few different options for different situations is what makes a great lip care arsenal!
