Not needing snacks at work full of good protein, vitamins, etc.
First toast your bagel of course, normally I get everything bagels however this week I tried New York style cheese bagels.
Add cheese of choice for the fatty protein, one fried egg seasoned, a half of an avocado 🥑 seasons with toasted sesame seeds, pepper, garlic, and salt. Topped with turkey sausage and enjoy 😋🔥

You know, after sharing my go-to protein-packed breakfast bagel, I've been thinking about all the amazing ways you can customize a bagel to make it truly YOUR best breakfast! My recipe with that perfectly fried egg, seasoned avocado slices with sesame seeds and pepper, and savory turkey sausage always hits the spot, especially when it's on a delicious cheese bagel. But what else can you put in a bagel to elevate it? Beyond the Basics: Making Your Bagel Extraordinary First off, let's talk about the bagel itself. While my cheese bagel was a winner, don't forget the classic everything bagel or even a hearty whole wheat option if you're looking for something a bit lighter (addressing 'low fat bagels' implicitly). The 'bagel flavours' out there are endless – from poppy seed to onion, sesame, or even blueberry for a sweet and savory twist! Experimenting with different bagel bases can completely change the experience. When it comes to fillings, the original recipe is fantastic, but let's dive deeper into 'what to put in a bagel' for endless breakfast bagel ideas. If you're not into turkey sausage, crispy bacon or thinly sliced ham are fantastic alternatives. For those who love a sophisticated touch, smoked salmon with a dill-infused cream cheese spread can turn your simple bagel into a gourmet treat – a nod to the 'tuna bagel recipe' idea by offering another fish-based protein. Speaking of cream cheese, while my recipe focuses on other proteins, a good quality cream cheese spread is a bagel's best friend. Try infusing your plain cream cheese with chives, sun-dried tomatoes, or even a dash of everything bagel seasoning for an extra kick! Avocado Love & Beyond That creamy avocado half with salt and pepper is a must for me, but have you ever tried adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice with your salt and pepper? It brightens the flavor and helps prevent browning – a little trick I picked up for 'avocado halves with lemon and salt'. And why stop there? Layer on some fresh spinach leaves, a slice of ripe tomato, or thinly sliced red onion for an extra crunch and burst of freshness. A sprinkle of chili flakes can add a lovely warmth too! For the ultimate 'best breakfast bagel', don't underestimate the power of a good sauce. A drizzle of sriracha mayo, a dollop of pesto, or even just your favorite hot sauce can take your bagel from great to absolutely unforgettable. And for those busy mornings, prep some hard-boiled eggs in advance, or pre-cook your turkey sausage so assembly is super quick. Even though my images show a fried egg, a perfectly boiled egg adds a different texture and is just as delicious. The beauty of a breakfast bagel is its versatility. It’s not just about getting through the week; it’s about starting your day with something delicious, satisfying, and tailored to your tastes. So go ahead, get creative and build your own 'best breakfast bagel' masterpiece!
