There's something uniquely magical about a rainy day, especially when you're a child just let out of school. For me, thinking back to 1995, walking home in the rain wasn't a chore – it was an adventure. I can still vividly recall the sudden hush that would fall over the playground as the first drops hit, quickly followed by the excited chatter of kids pulling out their colorful umbrellas. My trusty backpack, usually brimming with textbooks and a crumpled lunch bag, felt a little heavier on those days, damp from the downpour. But that never stopped the fun. The wet sidewalk transformed into a shimmering path, reflecting the grey sky and the vibrant hues of our rain gear. I remember seeing friends in their bright red raincoat or blue raincoat, their faces beaming wetly as they shared an umbrella, their laughter echoing down the street. The best part, without a doubt, was splashing through a large puddle. My sneakers would be soaked, but the momentary thrill was always worth it.
