Baking cinnamon rolls 👩🏾🍳
A break in my bookish content to post my other favorite hobby.. BAKING! 💕
I love the act of baking, there is something so special about perfecting a recipe and the peace you get from it. Not to mention the finished result of eating something made with love. This morning my little one helped me bake and he really enjoyed helping (almost as much as he loved eating)!
I’ll probably post baking content here and there. No recipes because I don’t usually measure and follow recipes. I follow a recipe my very first time making something and every time after that, I just freestyle lol. Maybe I’ll do it every Sunday or every other Sunday.

I totally get that feeling of pure bliss when you pull a batch of warm, gooey cinnamon rolls out of the oven! There's just something magical about transforming simple ingredients into a delicious treat right in your own kitchen. While I adore visiting local bakeries for inspiration, I've found that recreating that 'bakery-quality' magic at home is incredibly rewarding. It's not just about the taste; it's the whole experience, from the aroma filling your home to the satisfaction of sharing something you made with love. I mentioned I often freestyle my recipes after the first try, and honestly, that's where the real fun begins! Don't be intimidated by overly precise measurements initially. Follow a good base recipe for cinnamon rolls once or twice to get a feel for the dough, then let your creativity soar. Want more cinnamon? Add it! Craving a hint of orange zest in your frosting? Go for it! Baking is an art, and your kitchen is your canvas. It's about building confidence – soon, you'll be able to adjust flour, liquid, and yeast amounts by touch and feel, just like seasoned bakers. For me, Sunday mornings have become my dedicated 'bake day,' a tradition that brings so much joy. It's a wonderful way to wind down the weekend and prepare for the week ahead with a sweet treat. My little one loves to join in, helping with kneading (or at least making a joyful mess!) and, of course, taste-testing. Baking with kids isn't just about the finished product; it's about making memories and teaching them a valuable life skill. It truly turns a simple baking session into a heartwarming family affair. If you're new to baking, especially something like cinnamon rolls, don't stress! Start with a reliable, simple recipe. Don't be afraid to make mistakes – that's how we learn and improve. Invest in good quality yeast and make sure your milk is the right temperature (lukewarm, not hot) to activate it properly. A stand mixer can be a lifesaver for kneading dough, but hand-kneading is a fantastic workout and deeply satisfying. And for that perfect bakery swirl, gently roll your dough tightly and use a sharp, un-serrated knife or even dental floss to cut the rolls cleanly. Once you've mastered cinnamon rolls, the home 'bakery' world is your oyster! Think about branching out to easy bread rolls, simple cookies, or even a quick focaccia. The principles of baking—understanding yeast, flour, and moisture—are often transferable. And remember, the best part isn't just the eating, but the love and warmth you put into every batch, making it truly special and unique to your home.
