As someone who has lots of infertility issues, celebrating Mother’s Day was something that a few years ago I thought it would never happen.
I heard from MULTIPLE doctors that my chances of having kids were close to zero, and if I did get pregnant I would most likely have a miscarriage. It was so hard to hear that as a young woman, and truly felt like my body was “betraying” me.
But after I became a mom, felt like I went through the process of rebirth, of giving life a second chance, of changing who I am in order to raise better humans and to become the best version of myself for them and with them.
I know it sounds silly, but for me Mother’s Day is a day where I count my blessings 💕
And yes, I did made myself a sushi cake 👀😅 bc why not.
Celebrating Mother’s Day after overcoming infertility challenges is truly a profound experience that reshapes our appreciation for life and motherhood. Many women who face similar struggles often feel isolated and overwhelmed, but connecting with communities that share stories can be immensely healing. In my personal journey, the transition from hearing discouraging medical opinions to finally embracing motherhood felt like a transformative rebirth. It’s not only about the physical miracle of pregnancy but also about nurturing resilience and hope within ourselves. This experience changes how we view the world, making simple celebrations like Mother’s Day deeply meaningful. It’s a chance to count blessings that once seemed impossible. Personally, I found that celebrating with unique touches, like making a sushi cake, added joy and lightheartedness to my special day. This creative act symbolizes treating ourselves with kindness and marking important milestones in ways that resonate with our individuality. For others facing infertility, I encourage seeking support—whether through counseling, support groups, or sharing stories online—because these connections lighten the emotional burden. Mother’s Day can be a healing reminder that every journey is unique, and celebrating what we have achieved, no matter how unexpected, is vital. Ultimately, this holiday can transform from a day of longing into one of gratitude and empowerment, reminding us of our strength and the beautiful bonds we create as parents and human beings.
