プール熱はアデノウイルスによる感染症で、夏場に特に流行しますが、名前の通りプールからだけではなく、飛沫感染や接触感染で一年中うつる可能性があります。私自身、子どもが保育園でプール熱にかかった経験がありましたが、初めはプール熱の症状を知らずに気づかずにいたため、家庭内で他のきょうだいにも感染が広がってしまいました。 症状としては38度から39度の高熱、のどの激しい痛み、目の充血や目やにが出ることが多く、特に「高熱・のどの痛み・結膜炎」の三大症状が揃ったときはすぐに注意が必要です。体力が低下し食欲が落ちることも多く、ぐったりしてしまうこともありますので、無理をさせずにしっかり休ませることが大切です。 感染防止には、こまめな石けんでの手洗い、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムによる消毒、タオルの共用を避けるなどの家庭内対策が効果的です。アルコール消毒ではウイルスに対してあまり効果がない点も注意しましょう。目やにが多く出ている場合は、やさしく拭いて清潔に保つことが症状軽減にも繋がります。 また、登園や登校の目安としては、熱やのどの痛み、結膜炎といった主要症状が改善し、2日間経過してから出席可能になることが一般的です。園によっては登園許可書が必要な場合もあるため、事前に確認しておくと安心です。 もし、水分が取れなかったり、ぐったりして呼吸が苦しそうだったり、目の症状が強くなった場合、高熱が続く場合は早めに医療機関を受診してください。プール熱は早期発見・早期対応が回復の鍵です。夏の感染症として知識を深めておくことで、大切なご家族の健康をしっかり守ることができますので、この記事を保存して参考にしてください。
