✨ Standard Test Books to Practice a Language
While it’s not necessary to take a language test to learn a language, the resources that are published for these tests can be great for practice.
The best practice will always be talking to other people but if you don’t have access to a native speaker just yet - these types of books can help.
Whichever countries language you’re trying to learn, research what their standardized tests are and get some prep books from it. This has helped me personally when reaching an intermediate/advanced level.
European (and some other) languages use the CEFR scale which starts at A1 (easy) and goes to C2 (fluent).
Other countries might have their own scale for example:
Japan N5 (easy) to N1 (fluent)
South Korea 1 to 6 (easy to fluent)
Here’s some popular languages and tests as an example:
Japan: JLPT
South Korea: TOPIK
Mandarin Chinese: HSK
Spanish: DELE
French: TFI
German: Goethe-Zertifikat
Brazilian Portuguese: Celpe-bras
If you aren’t already at least intermediate you may find these kinds of materials too hard. Keep going with regular reading, writing, listening and speaking practice and you should be able to advance your studies in time.
