I need help parents 😭😭😭

5/4 Edited to

... Read moreDealing with an 11-year-old who reacts negatively when things don’t go their way can be incredibly challenging. I’ve been in a similar situation where my child displayed a bad attitude, and I wanted to maintain firm boundaries without resorting to hitting or being too lenient. The key I found was consistent communication and empathy. Often, children act out because they feel unheard or overwhelmed by emotions they can't easily express. Taking a moment to acknowledge their feelings while calmly explaining acceptable behavior goes a long way. Also, setting clear consequences that are fair and related to the behavior helps children understand the importance of discipline without feeling unfairly punished. For example, explaining that a bad attitude might result in losing certain privileges for a set time helps connect actions with outcomes. Another useful approach is modeling the behavior you want to see. Kids learn a lot by watching how adults handle frustration and disappointment. Showing patience and problem-solving skills can encourage them to adopt similar habits. Finally, make sure to praise positive attitude shifts and effort, not just outcomes. This reinforces good behavior and motivates your child to keep improving their responses. Parenting is a balance between being caring and firm. It’s okay to struggle and seek advice, and with time and persistence, you can guide your child towards healthier ways of coping with challenges.
