The easiest 4 hour yeast bread! 🍞 🥖

I have been wanting to get into sourdough bread baking but it’s such an intense process so I found this yeast bread recipe to try first to see if I could get into sourdough and let’s just say yes for sure!!

This was so easy to make and definitely less time consuming than a sourdough.

Ingredients:

1 packet instant yeast (I actually used active dry yeast and just activated it first according to package instructions before mixing into my dough)

1/2 tsp salt

1.5 cups warm water (90-100°)

3 and 1/4 cups bread flour (or all purpose but I used bread flour)

Directions:

1. Whisk together yeast, salt, and warm water

2. Gently combine flour into this mixture

3. You’ll get a shaggy dough, then cover your bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rise for 2.5-3 hours in a warm spot, I put mine in my oven that was off.

4. After 3 hours your dough should have doubled in size and be jiggly. Pour the dough onto a floured surface and form into a ball shape, then score the top

5. Preheat your oven to 450° with your Dutch oven preheating as well. If you don’t have a Dutch oven like me, just preheat your oven and place your ball of dough on a sheet of parchment paper inside an oven safe pot. I used my large stainless pot with a baking sheet to cover it.

6. Once preheated, place your covered dough in the oven and cook for 35 minutes, then take the cover off and bake for another 5-10 minutes until the bread is golden brown.

7. Remove from your pan and allow to cool on a wire rack

this was so easy and delicious! I was so happy with how it came out for my first time, and paired it with homemade chicken and rice soup 😊
