Please note aside from what I am telling you in this post that there is other stuff within your birth chart. I am just going off of memory.
Your birth chart is what tells you about yourself and can tell others about you. Your birth chart is also called your neonatal chart. This chart is your life story and what you came here to do, and what you are to accomplish, learn about and who you are meant to become. It helps you understand yourself on a deeper level as well as explain your accomplishments that you will accomplish throughout your entire life, your hardships that you will come across, and who you will overall become.
From my memory, this is how I broke down my birth chart. Maybe this will help some of you in understanding yours.
Your Big Three are most important in your birth chart. These represent the core aspects of your personality. Who you REALLY are. The SUN is your core self, the MOON is your emotional nature, The RISING is how you present yourself to others and the world.
The Sun- Basic personality Traits, your conscious self, how YOU want to be perceived.
The Moon- Your subconscious, emotional needs, and how you react to situations on deeper levels.
RISING or ASCENDING- First impressions of you, how YOU present yourself, your outer personality.
ASC-Ascending- Your appearance
DSC- Descending- Qualities you like in others
MC- Life Purpose
IC- Home, Family, Foundation
NN- Your potential
SS- Your past
Cardinal Signs- Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, Libra- These signs are leaders, dynamic, take initiative, and are assertive.
Fixed Signs- Leo, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius- These signs are Determined, Resistant to changes, and are stable.
Mutable Signs- Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo, Gemini- These signs are Flexible, Adaptable, adapt easy to change, and are resourceful.
