We’re bringing the dances here right?? 🥰🌸
Okay, Sims fam, let's talk about one of the most annoying messages in the game: 'Music must be playing nearby.' Raise your hand if you've ever tried to get your Sims to bust a move for a cute TikTok video, maybe even in a cool build like my Sims Crystal Shop, only for them to stand there awkwardly because there's no tunes! Ugh, it’s the worst when you’re trying to create that perfect scene. I used to struggle with this constantly, especially when I was making TikToks in my Sims Crystal Shop. I wanted my Sims to have a little dance party amidst all the crystals, but they just wouldn't cooperate. After a lot of trial and error (and a few frustrated sighs!), I've finally figured out some solid ways to make sure your Sims can always find that beat. First off, the most obvious solution is a stereo or a speaker. But it's not always as simple as just placing one down. Sims have a limited range for hearing music. If your stereo is in a different room or too far away, they won't dance. My best advice? Place speakers strategically! For larger rooms, you might need two or three. Wall-mounted speakers are fantastic because they save space and can be placed higher up, sometimes giving a better range. Don't forget portable speakers – these are lifesavers for outdoor events or if you want to move the party to different spots in your shop or home without buying multiple large stereos. Just pop one in their inventory, and they can pull it out anywhere! Another thing to consider is the type of music. While any music source should work, I've noticed that sometimes different music channels or custom music can have varying effects, or at least feel more 'present' to the Sims. Experiment with different stations on your stereo. And if you have a Sim with high musical skills, having them play an instrument nearby can also count as 'music playing'! Imagine a Sim playing a guitar while others dance in your Crystal Shop – so aesthetic! For those of us who are really into making content, like those 'Making TikToks in My Sims Crystal Shop' videos, sometimes we need a quick fix. If you're struggling despite placing speakers, try moving the Sim right next to the music source. Or, if you're not opposed to a little cheat, you can sometimes reset the Sim (resetSim Firstname Lastname in the cheat console) or the object to see if that helps refresh their perception of the music source. Ensure your stereo is on and playing music, not just placed. Sounds obvious, but I've made that mistake more times than I'd like to admit! Ultimately, getting your Sims to dance smoothly for your content creation or just for fun comes down to understanding their auditory range. Always have a music source within a reasonable distance, consider portable options, and don't be afraid to experiment with placement. Happy dancing, fellow Simmers!
