February Wrap-Up: 14 Books, Zero 5⭐️ (& That’s Ok)

February was BUSY… but somehow I still read 14 books, my most ever in one month!

This month took me everywhere:

💘 Romance

🔪 Mystery/Thriller

📚 Contemporary Fiction

🧠 Non-Fiction

My ratings ranged from 2⭐️ to 4⭐️ — and honestly? I love a mixed month. Not every book is meant to be life-changing, but every book teaches you something about your tastes.

No 5⭐️ this month… which just means March has something to prove 😌✨

I’m learning that a “good” reading month isn’t about perfection — it’s about variety, growth, and figuring out what actually works for me as a reader.

Tell me:

Did you have any 5⭐️ reads in February?

And are you a harsh rater or generous with your stars? 👀📚

#bookishalgorithm #readingwrapup #februaryreads #lemon8books

2/28 Edited to

... Read moreReading 14 books in a single month is quite an achievement, especially when those books span multiple genres like romance, mystery/thriller, contemporary fiction, and non-fiction. I’ve found that engaging with such a variety really helps refine what I enjoy in a story and what kind of writing resonates with me. This past February, even without awarding any book a 5-star rating, I realized that not every book has to be a home run to make the reading experience valuable. Sometimes, a 2 to 4-star book can teach you more about your personal taste than a perfect 5-star read. It’s about the journey, not just the outcome. Among the authors I explored were bestsellers like Alice Feeney, Hazelwood, Elsie Silver, and others recognized for their contributions to romance and thriller genres. Their work helped me balance thrilling plots with emotional depth, which kept me engaged throughout the month. I also noticed that my star rating reflects not just the story quality but my mood and expectations at the time. Some books that didn’t wow me initially might deserve a higher rating later as I reflect on their themes or characters. One practical tip from this experience is to keep an open mind and embrace reading diversity. It’s okay not to have a perfect month of reading, and it’s even okay to be generous or harsh with star ratings depending on your personal rating style. The key is to enjoy the process and keep discovering what books truly spark joy or curiosity. Looking forward to March, I’m excited to see which books will finally earn that elusive 5-star spot and how my taste might evolve. What about you? Did you have any standout reads that captured your heart or mind this February? Are you someone who easily gives high ratings, or do you save them for only exceptional books? Sharing our reading experiences helps build a community of thoughtful and passionate readers.
