... Read moreIf you've noticed discrepancies between your credit reports from different bureaus, it's crucial to take immediate action by disputing these errors to preserve your credit score. A vital part of this process involves knowing where to send your dispute letters. For TransUnion disputes, several addresses are used depending on the department handling your case. Commonly used addresses include P.O. Box 6790, Fullerton, CA 92384, and P.O. Box 2000, Chester, PA 19022. Additionally, some legal or special department mail can be sent to 555 West Adams, Chicago, IL 60661. Knowing these addresses helps ensure your dispute reaches the right department without delay. When drafting your dispute letter, be sure to include your full name, address, social security number (or partial for security), and a clear description of each error you're contesting. Attach any supporting documents such as proof of payments, account statements, or correspondence with creditors. Send your dispute via certified mail with a return receipt requested. This way, you can track and confirm that the credit bureau received your dispute. Keep copies of all correspondence for your records. The credit bureau is required by law to investigate your dispute, generally within 30 days. They will contact the creditor reporting the information to verify its accuracy. After verification, you’ll receive the results of the investigation and a free copy of the updated credit report if any modifications were made. If your dispute is unresolved or you believe the errors persist, you can escalate your complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) or consult a credit repair professional for assistance. By actively managing and disputing credit report discrepancies, you ensure that your credit history accurately reflects your financial behavior, improving your chances for favorable loan approvals and better interest rates in the future.
