It turns out, stress hormones like cortisol really mess with our metabolism and how our bodies store fat, especially around the stomach – hello, hormonal belly! I used to think belly fat was just from eating too much, but understanding the role of cortisol changed everything. When we're stressed, our bodies release cortisol, which is great for a 'fight or flight' response. But chronic stress keeps cortisol high, leading to increased blood sugar, insulin resistance, and yes, fat storage right in the abdominal area. This isn't just about aesthetics; it's about inflammation and overall health. While a specific supplement helped me personally (and it was a game-changer!), I also learned that what we eat plays a massive role in supporting healthy cortisol levels and reducing that stubborn stomach fat. I started focusing on whole, unprocessed foods. Think lean proteins like chicken and fish, healthy fats from avocado and nuts, and plenty of fiber-rich vegetables.
