I refuse to feel Guilty!

1. When I spend hours planning coupon deals, I will speak up if something rings up wrong — but always kindly. I wait until there’s no line, say thank you, and stay respectful. If it’s my mistake, I learn from it so I don’t repeat it. Being kind costs nothing.

2. Buying thrifted kids books and toys is a big part of our homeschool life. We often find books in pristine condition and toys for half the price. Clothes are only a yes if they’re in great shape. It saves us money and my kid gets to pick what he want without breaking our bank.

3. We coupon for more than just our family. Sometimes we buy items we may not use because someone in our community will. One of our biggest goals with couponing has always been giving back.

What are some ways you save money and don't feel guilty about?

... Read moreOver the years, I have realized that saving money doesn't mean sacrificing kindness or community spirit. One important aspect I embrace is correcting cashiers gently when coupon deals don’t ring up right. It’s about standing up for what’s fair, but doing so with respect and patience. I always make sure there’s no line before I mention an error and keep a polite tone. This approach usually leads to a helpful resolution instead of conflict. Thrifting has become a cornerstone of how I manage our homeschool household expenses. One of the biggest surprises has been finding kids' books and toys in excellent condition at thrift stores, usually for a fraction of retail prices. This not only saves money but introduces my child to a variety of educational and fun items without cluttering our home with brand new things. Clothes are a bit more selective; I only buy secondhand if the items look nearly new to ensure quality and comfort. Couponing extends beyond just saving on our family needs. I often buy items on sale or with coupons that others in my community might need. This habit has transformed couponing into an act of giving back, making the savings both practical and meaningful. It’s rewarding to share resources and help others benefit from good deals as well. For anyone looking to save money without feeling guilty, I suggest embracing kindness and generosity throughout the process. Planning ahead, respecting store staff, and considering community needs turn frugal living into a positive lifestyle choice. Living this way has not only improved our financial situation but also strengthened our connection to others and taught my child valuable lessons about money and empathy.

Why I Don’t “Do It All”
Let’s be clear: I don’t do it all. And I’m not interested in starting. I’m done pretending exhaustion is a badge of honor and burnout means I’m doing something right. I’m done romanticizing chaos and calling it “being a good mom” or “being productive.” No — it’s just tired. And I’ve had enough.
