Gluten & Dairy Free Protein Bars

Prioritizing protein can be a struggle when you’re gluten and dairy free 😅 Every time I’m in the protein snack section I’m looking over labels and trying to find new options of snacks that taste amazing but help me hit my goals.

Here’s some of my favorites:

- Toto’s protein cookies $4: This one is my favorite dessert!The flavor is spot on. They balance the sweet and salty so well. Clean ingredients. Love this!

- Kate’s real food bar $3: Tastes like a homemade bar. Super clean ingredients and 15g of protein. The texture is chewy granola bar meets rice crispy treat.

- Bob’s red mill bars $3: Solid option. Clean ingredients, lots of flavors and 8g of protein. This is more of a classic snack granola bar vibe.

- Balanced tiger bar $3.50: LOVE the added mushroom benefits on this one. Soft texture and good flavor. Solid option at 11g of protein and under 200 cal.

- No cow bars $3: This one is an honorable mention lol It’s my least favorite in terms of ingredients and taste (it’s a little chalky), but it has the most protein for the lowest calories at 20g. This one is the best to fit your macros and it’s readily available at most grocery store checkout lanes.

It’s like having dessert without the guilt! Kate’s Real Food bar also stands out to me because it really tastes handmade, with a chewy texture reminiscent of homemade rice crispy treats. It packs 15 grams of plant-based protein which is great for recovery after workouts. For those who want a classic granola bar vibe, Bob’s Red Mill bars use whole oats and peanuts with organic honey, providing a solid 8g of protein and a tasty option for everyday snacks. I also appreciate the Balanced Tiger bar because of the functional mushrooms included—ingredients like cordyceps and chaga bring potential immune and energy benefits, making it more than just a protein bar. Although No Cow bars are a bit chalky in texture, they can’t be ignored for anyone prioritizing macros with 20g of protein and very low sugars and calories. Plus, they’re widely available which is convenient. In my experience, it's important to not only look at the protein content but also other nutritional factors like added sugars, calories, and ingredients quality. Choosing bars with natural sweeteners like honey or organic coconut sugar, instead of sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners, usually results in better tolerance and taste. If you’re switching to gluten and dairy free snacks, consider trying a few of these recommended bars to find your favorite. Rotating among them can keep your snack time exciting and nutritious.
