Another tip is to focus on simple, versatile ingredients that can be used across multiple meals, which cuts down on both food waste and costs. For example, buying a whole chicken and using it in several different dishes throughout the week worked well for me. Meal prepping also fits well during life transitions, like moving to a new apartment, when time is tight and budgets may be stretched. In my experience, the key to successful meal prep is setting aside a specific time to cook and package meals ahead of time. It may seem like a lot of work initially, but once it becomes part of your routine, it saves valuable time during hectic weekdays. Using clear containers for your prepped meals also helps keep things organized and easy to grab-and-go. Overall, meal prepping not only saves money but also reduces stress, helps control portion sizes, and encourages healthier eating habits. If you’re new to it, start small by prepping just a couple of meals and gradually increase as you become more comfortable with the process.
