Why Pilates is the best for college students!

Reformer Pilates is the best workout in my opinion!

Disclaimer: I am in no way a coach/ trainer! There are so many amazing benefits from pilates that I have witnessed in myself after only taking a few classes!

As a college student it can be hard to stay motivated to work out so my trick is to book workouts that you pay for that you can’t miss!

This pushes me to have to go! I’ve had my fair share of trial and error for work out classes. I’ve tried almost everything and I never like any of them! Pilates is a low- impact workout almsot like yoga but you actually feel the burn in the moves!

Why I think it’s the best:

1. I see lasting results - meaning it really works!

2. It’s motivating and god for your mental health- it’s stress relieving and help you push yourself !

3. It can be pricey but in my opinion it’s definitely worth it !

4. It’s the first workout I actually enjoy

here are some benefits I see in myself:

- improves posture

- increases flexibility

- stronger core

- improves balance and coordination

- lowers stress levels boosts energy levels

... Read moreLife as a college student is a whirlwind of classes, deadlines, social events, and often, a hefty dose of stress. Finding the time and motivation to work out can feel like an impossible task. Believe me, I've been there! I tried countless gym routines and fitness classes, often feeling bored or uninspired, until I discovered Reformer Pilates. It truly has been a game-changer for my physical and mental well-being during college, and I want to share why it might be the perfect fit for you too. One of the biggest hurdles for college students is often the financial aspect. Pilates, especially reformer classes, can seem a bit pricey at first glance. I totally get it – every penny counts! However, I've found that it's 100% worth it. Many studios offer introductory packages for new clients, often a discounted rate for your first few classes or a trial month. Look for student discounts, which are surprisingly common, or check if your campus recreation center offers Pilates mat classes, which are usually more affordable. Even investing in a few studio classes a month can provide the foundational knowledge you need to supplement with free online mat Pilates videos at home. The key is to see it as an investment in your long-term health and focus, not just another expense. Beyond the cost, fitting workouts into a crazy college schedule is another challenge. What I love about Pilates is its efficiency. Unlike some workouts where you feel you need hours to see progress, I started noticing real results only after a few classes. This isn't just about physical changes; it's also motivating and good for your mental health. The focus required during a Pilates session acts as a moving meditation, helping to lower stress levels and clear your mind, which is invaluable during exam season or when you're feeling overwhelmed. That feeling of leaving a class refreshed and centered is far more impactful than just ticking a box on a to-do list. The benefits I've personally experienced are manifold, and they directly address many common student woes: Improved Posture: Hours spent hunched over textbooks or a laptop take a toll. Pilates actively works to strengthen your core and back muscles, leading to better alignment. I've noticed a significant improvement in how I carry myself, which even helps with confidence. Increased Flexibility: Essential for counteracting stiffness from sitting. This also helps prevent injuries, whether from sports or just daily college life. Stronger Core: A strong core is the foundation for everything. It boosts overall strength, helps with balance, and supports your spine. Improved Balance and Coordination: These skills translate into everyday activities and can even make you feel more grounded. Boosts Energy Levels: While it's a workout, the controlled movements and breathwork can actually leave you feeling energized, not depleted. This is a huge plus when you're battling the college slump. Pilates was truly the first workout that I actually enjoy. It's low-impact, so it's gentle on your body, but you definitely feel the burn! The progressive nature of reformer Pilates means there's always a new challenge, keeping things interesting. If you're struggling to find a workout that motivates you and provides genuine benefits for both your body and mind, especially amidst the unique pressures of college life, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Pilates a try. It's more than just exercise; it's a practice that empowers you to feel stronger, more focused, and ultimately, happier.
