An espresso kind of day 🤎 #dayinmylife #fyp #DentalHygienist #rdh #worklife
Working as a registered dental hygienist (RDH) involves a combination of technical skill, patient interaction, and adapting to new technologies. From my experience, incorporating laser treatments into my daily routine has significantly improved patient comfort and care. Unlike traditional approaches that rely heavily on X-rays, using lasers allows for precise cleaning and treatment with less exposure to radiation, which many patients appreciate. Starting the day early, it’s essential to prepare for each patient by reviewing their history and tailoring the hygiene care to their specific needs. I typically see my first patient at 8 am and schedule treatments that prioritize preventive care using periodontal maintenance with laser assistance. Between appointments, I ensure thorough sanitization and update patient charts meticulously. What I find most rewarding is educating patients about the importance of routine cleanings and how laser treatments can reduce discomfort and promote faster healing. It’s important to communicate clearly and build trust, especially when introducing new technology. Balancing work and life is crucial too. Taking short coffee breaks, like enjoying an espresso, helps me stay energized throughout demanding days. Overall, being a dental hygienist means continuously learning and adapting while providing compassionate care that helps patients maintain optimal oral health.
