I’ve experienced firsthand how frustrating it is when 90% of the internet or those around you think you’re faking it, but Tourette's is a genuine neurological condition characterized by involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. It’s important to recognize that tics aren’t something people can easily control or suppress indefinitely. Even though some might believe they’re deliberate or attention-seeking behaviors, it’s the brain’s complex wiring causing these symptoms. When I try to explain or show my tics, some still don’t understand—this highlights the need for greater Tourette’s awareness and education. Sharing experiences and supporting each other in communities like #ticcingtogether can provide strength and reduce isolation. It’s encouraging to see hashtags and discussions that promote understanding rather than judgment. By raising awareness and educating those around us, we can dismantle stereotypes and promote empathy.
