Why do bad things ever happen to good siblings?

7/24 Edited to

... Read moreFrom personal experience and observing various family dynamics, I've noticed that sibling relationships can often be complicated and fraught with tension. It’s not uncommon for younger siblings to face bullying or harsh treatment from older brothers or sisters, which can be deeply hurtful and confusing, especially when both parties generally care for each other. This toxic behavior, including the use of harsh words and bigotry, can stem from various sources such as jealousy, unresolved conflicts, or poor communication skills nurtured within the family environment. Recognizing these unhealthy patterns is the first step toward healing and improving these relationships. In families where bullying occurs, it often reflects immaturity and emotional struggles rather than true animosity. The concept of "past lives" referenced by some suggests a cycle of unresolved issues possibly passing through generations, heightening sibling conflicts unintentionally. What has helped many is open dialogue, acknowledging feelings without judgment, and sometimes involving a neutral third party like a counselor to facilitate understanding. It’s also vital to set boundaries and promote respect among siblings to break the cycle of toxicity. Ultimately, while bad things happening to good siblings can feel unfair and painful, it’s often an opportunity for growth, empathy, and stronger bonds once these underlying issues are addressed thoughtfully.
