✨#trash ♻️ #treasure #cats 🫶 LOOK WHAT WE FOUND😻
#freefind 🙀 we find lots of goodies to #reuse resell and #repurposing for ourselves and our #catcolony #garbagepicking
It's incredible what you can find when you have an eye for potential! My partner and I started our 'trash to treasure' journey a few years back, initially just for fun, but it quickly became a passion, especially with our growing cat colony. That's right, we truly believe in turning discards into valuable resources, not just for ourselves but for our furry friends too! One of our biggest successes was finding sturdy, old wooden crates. Most people would see them as junk, but we saw purr-fect cat beds! With a little sanding, a coat of non-toxic paint, and some comfy donated blankets, they became cozy, elevated sleeping spots, keeping our cats off the cold ground. We even found a large, durable plastic storage bin – once destined for the landfill, now a fantastic, easy-to-clean litter box enclosure, providing privacy and minimizing odor for the colony. It's amazing what a little imagination can do for a #catcolony! We also keep an eye out for old, sturdy shelves or small cabinets. These are fantastic for creating vertical spaces – cats love to climb! A quick clean and maybe a bit of reinforcement, and suddenly you have a multi-level play area or feeding station. This helps keep the colony organized and gives each cat a bit more personal space, which is so important for their well-being and for keeping their environment beautiful and calm. Beyond the big finds, it's the little things too. Sometimes we find rolls of discarded fabric – perfect for making scratching posts or simple toys after a good wash. Even old, clean plastic containers can be repurposed into clever feeders that dispense food slowly, providing enrichment. We've even found broken garden ornaments that, with a bit of repair, add a touch of whimsy to their outdoor space – making it not just functional, but a truly beautiful environment for them. Remember that "WE FOUND IT in the trash!" feeling? It's genuinely addictive when you see the potential! So, how do you develop that 'treasure hunter's eye'? It’s all about looking beyond the obvious. When you see something discarded, don't just see what it *is*, but what it *could be*. A broken chair might have perfectly good legs for a small table. An old suitcase could become a unique pet carrier or a comfy hideaway. Always consider the material – wood, sturdy plastic, metal – and its potential for transformation. A good wash, a bit of paint, or a simple repair can completely change an item's purpose and appeal. For anyone wondering about #garbagepicking, my top tip is to always prioritize safety. Wear gloves, be aware of your surroundings, and only take items that look clean, safe, and are clearly discarded. It's about finding treasures, not taking risks or infringing on private property. Also, think about the three R's: #reuse, #repurpose, and even reselling can help fund your colony's needs. Every item we save from the landfill and give a new life contributes to keeping our community cleaner and our beloved cat colony happier and more beautiful. It’s a win-win for everyone, especially our feline residents! We're always on the lookout, and trust me, the joy of a good #freefind is unbeatable.
