An attribute of God is something true about him, his characteristics. While fully comprehending who God is impossible for us as limited beings, God does make himself known in a variety of ways, and through what he reveals about himself in his Word and in his creation, we can begin to wrap our minds around our awesome Creator and God.
After reflecting on the initial thoughts about God's attributes, I realized just how profound it is to truly grasp 'who God is.' It's not just an academic exercise; for me, it's deeply personal. Understanding His core characteristics reshapes everything. Knowing that God is Supreme brings such deep peace to my heart. His purposes cannot be thwarted, and that's a truth I hold onto daily. In a world full of uncertainty and plans that often fall apart, resting in the knowledge that His ultimate will always prevail is incredibly comforting. It reminds me that even when things don't go my way, there's a higher, perfect plan at work. Then there's His Holiness. This isn't just about being 'good'; it's about being utterly set apart from everything imperfect and sinful. The idea that He is 'hostile toward sin' might sound intimidating, but for me, it highlights His absolute purity and justice. It makes me appreciate His goodness even more, and challenges me to live in a way that reflects His character, striving for a life that honors His pure nature. His Faithfulness is another cornerstone of my belief. I've often leaned on the promise that His faithfulness allows us to have total confidence in His Word. Think about it: if God wasn't faithful, how could we trust anything He says? But because He is, every promise, every instruction in the Bible becomes a solid ground to stand on. It's like having an unshakeable anchor in life's storms. The idea of God being Omnipotent, all-powerful, is truly awe-inspiring. It's as essential to our daily lives as electricity is to a lightbulb! I often find myself trying to control situations, and then I remember that God holds all power. This isn't a scary thought; it's liberating. It means no problem is too big for Him, no prayer is too complex, and He has the power to bring about good in any situation. It encourages me to surrender my worries and trust in His immense capability. And His Changeless nature? What a relief! In a world constantly shifting and evolving, it's incredibly reassuring to know that God is 'the same yesterday, today, and forever.' He's not swayed by trends or emotions; His character is constant, like an 'unshakeable mountain' in a desert of sand. This stability gives me such confidence that I can always rely on Him, knowing His love, justice, and mercy will never diminish or alter. Finally, His Omnipresence means He is everywhere, all the time. There's 'nowhere He isn't.' This isn't just about being watched; it's about being accompanied. Whether I'm feeling lonely, celebrating a triumph, or navigating a challenge, I'm never truly alone. This truth brings both comfort and a gentle reminder to live consciously, knowing He is always with me. Reflecting on these attributes has transformed my understanding of God from an abstract concept to a tangible, powerful presence in my life. It’s not just about knowing about God, but truly knowing Him. When I grasp His supremacy, holiness, faithfulness, omnipotence, changelessness, and omnipresence, my faith deepens, my worries lessen, and my worship becomes more authentic.
