They’re the reason your acne stays 😮‍💨

1/9 Edited to

... Read moreHaving struggled with stubborn acne myself, I found that understanding the root causes was key to finally seeing improvement. One of the biggest mistakes is over-exfoliating. Using strong acids or retinol every day can damage your skin barrier, causing dryness and triggering more oil production, which leads to breakouts. Instead, I switched to exfoliating just 2-3 times a week and noticed my skin calmed down significantly. Another crucial step is double cleansing. Many people skip this, but I found that using a gentle oil-based cleanser first, followed by a foaming wash, removed excess dirt and makeup thoroughly without stripping my skin. This practice helped reduce irritation and clogged pores. Diet also plays a huge role. Cutting down on processed foods, sugar, and fried snacks helped reduce inflammation and led to fewer pimples. Hydration matters too—skipping moisturizer because of oily skin is a trap. When your skin is dry, it compensates by producing more oil. I switched to a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer which kept my skin balanced. Finally, choosing the right acne products is essential. High percentages of benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be effective but harsh if used incorrectly. I learned to start with lower concentrations and slowly build up tolerance. In summary, a gentle, consistent routine combined with a healthy diet and proper cleansing can make a big difference. It’s not just about the products you use but how you use them and the lifestyle choices you make that influence acne persistence.
