The beginning of offering guidance
At this point in my career if you hired me it looked like
@Jamie Tobin | Photographer
- 1000 images
- in person contract signing
- 12 hour coverage
- engagement session
- CD (not usb) of final images
When I first started offering professional photography services, I was often asked what exactly clients get for their investment, especially in the $1500 to $2500 price range. From my personal experience, the value lies not just in the photos themselves but also in the overall client experience. For instance, many photographers, including myself during this stage, included a large number of images—around 1000—so clients could have a broad selection of moments captured throughout their event. One important aspect is the in-person contract signing. This step builds trust and clarifies expectations upfront, which I found essential in preventing confusion later on. Additionally, offering extensive coverage, such as 12 hours, ensures that the entire event is documented from start to finish, allowing for comprehensive storytelling. The engagement session is another key component that I always provided. It’s a chance for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day while also creating beautiful keepsakes in a relaxed setting. Lastly, despite the prevalence of USB drives today, I chose to deliver the final images on a CD. While it may seem dated, some clients still prefer this format for its simplicity and physical backup. Overall, these elements combined represent a robust photography package that respects both the art and the business side of the craft. If you’re considering hiring a photographer, make sure to ask about these details to understand the full scope of what you’re getting.
