❌ 5/10 ~ This is the Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Lite Primer. I did NOT finish this. I think it’s super expired. I had a sample years ago and thought it was a decent primer at the time so I bought the full size. But I never reached for this, hence why I let it expire. It doesn’t blend very easily and it feels so thick and heavy on my skin. It also comes out lowk straight silicone out of the bottle. So it’s not easy to even get it on my face to start with. It does blur my pores pretty well, but I don’t notice my makeup lasting any longer with this on. And for being a $30+ primer it doesn’t work as well as it could. #primers#benefit#decemberempties#empties#productreview

... Read moreWhen I first picked up the Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Lite Primer, I genuinely had high hopes. Like many of you, I'm always on the hunt for that perfect base that blurs pores without feeling heavy or suffocating on my skin. The "Lite" in its name immediately caught my eye, promising a lighter alternative to the original cult-favorite POREfessional. I was envisioning something airy, almost undetectable, that would just gently smooth things over.
The product comes in a distinctive light blue and white tube with a black cap, adorned with that classic Benefit cartoon illustration of a woman in a blue suit and goggles. It's certainly eye-catching packaging, making it easy to spot on a shelf. However, my initial excitement began to wane as soon as I squeezed some out. Despite the "Lite" moniker, the texture felt surprisingly thick. It wasn't the silky, lightweight gel I had anticipated. Instead, it had a very direct, almost pure silicone-based feel straight out of the tube. This instantly made me wonder how "lite" it truly was.
Applying it was a bit of a challenge for me. Because of its dense, silicone consistency, it didn't spread as easily as I'd hoped. I really had to work it into my skin, and even then, I felt a distinct, almost heavy layer sitting on top. My skin usually prefers something that melts in seamlessly, so this was a bit of a departure. For those wondering, yes, it definitely feels silicone-based, which can be great for blurring, but less so for a truly "barely there" sensation.
Now, let's talk about performance. The one area where it truly shined for me was pore blurring. It did a commendable job of visually minimizing my pores, creating a smoother canvas. For that, I'd give it a solid nod. However, that's where the positives largely ended for my personal experience. One of the main reasons I use a face primer is to extend the wear time of my makeup. Unfortunately, with the POREfessional Lite, I noticed no significant difference in how long my foundation stayed put. My makeup seemed to fade or shift just as quickly as it would without any primer at all.
Considering the price point, I expected more. A primer that promises to be "lite" and blurs pores should ideally also enhance makeup longevity. For me, it fell short on the latter. If you're someone whose primary concern is only pore blurring and you don't mind a very silicone-heavy feel, or perhaps you have oilier skin that reacts differently to silicones, this might still be worth a try. But if you're like me, seeking a truly lightweight base that helps your makeup last longer, you might find yourself disappointed. It ultimately became an 'empty' not because I loved it, but because it sat unused for so long it expired. It's a reminder that sometimes, even popular products don't work for everyone's skin and preferences.
