... Read moreEver felt like your creativity is blocked and you don't know how to fix it? I certainly have! As a music artist working on an EP called "Phases," I've been stuck in my head a lot, afraid my ideas aren't good enough. That's why I'm embarking on Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way," a renowned 12-week program designed for "Creativity Transformation." It's a spiritual path to higher creativity, and I'm hoping it will help me recover my creative self and bring my music to life. "The Artist's Way" is more than just a book; it's an immersive, guided experience. Cameron believes that creative blocks often stem from negative beliefs and habits, and her program provides practical exercises to dismantle these. It's about nurturing your inner artist and reclaiming the spontaneous, joyous connection to creative expression that many of us lose over time. One of the cornerstones of the program is "Morning Pages." Every morning, you write three pages of stream-of-consciousness longhand. No editing, no judgment – just a pure brain dump. I admit, I was skeptical at first, but even after a few days, I'm noticing a significant shift. It's like clearing out mental clutter, making space for new ideas, and helping me address that persistent feeling of being "stuck in my head." It’s a powerful tool for self-discovery and for identifying the whispers of self-doubt that often sabotage our creative efforts. Another vital element is the "Artist Date." This is a weekly, solo excursion to nurture your inner artist. It doesn't have to be grand or expensive; it could be visiting a museum, exploring a new neighborhood, listening to live music, or even just spending an hour in a craft store. The idea is to fill your creative well, to invite novelty, and to spark inspiration without any pressure for an immediate creative output. For my "Phases" EP, I plan to use these dates to seek out new sounds, textures, and perspectives that I can weave into my music, hoping to break free from my usual patterns. This journey is truly about breaking free from the fear that my ideas aren't good enough. Each week, I'll share how exercises like morning pages and artist dates are helping me reconnect with my creativity and shape my music. I'm hoping to rediscover the joy and spontaneity in my process, moving past the self-doubt that has held me back. The promise of "12 weeks | Creativity Transformation" feels real, and I'm excited to see how it unfolds. If you've ever felt your "creativity is blocked," or you're a fellow artist battling self-doubt, consider joining me! This program, championed by Julia Cameron, is designed to help anyone recover their creative self. Follow along to see my progress and let's grow creatively together. This isn't just about finishing an EP; it's about reclaiming a vital and vibrant part of myself.
