Distracting our water cat..... backfired!!
We thought the tub would be the perfect distraction to keep Cosmo away from the cat fountain… turns out we just upgraded his water addiction 😂
Before long, Nova, Casper, and Winnie showed up for the chaos too because apparently we run a full-time water cat convention around here.
Everything was under control until Cosmo discovered the drain plug. One tiny pull later and the tub started draining, sending all four “brave” water cats into immediate panic — including Cosmo, the one responsible.
Cats with a fascination for water can be both entertaining and challenging for their owners. In my experience, trying to divert a water-loving cat’s attention usually requires creativity, but it can sometimes lead to more chaos than expected. For example, placing a tub to distract a cat away from a favorite cat fountain might seem like a clever idea, but it can quickly escalate—as happened with Cosmo and his feline friends. When multiple cats become involved, the playtime turns into a lively water party that’s hard to manage. One unexpected aspect with water cats is their curiosity about drains and plugs. It’s not uncommon for a cat to discover a drain plug and experiment with it, sometimes causing water to drain suddenly. This can surprise the cats and create amusing panic moments. Owners need to be cautious and prepare for such surprises. Covering drains or supervising play near water sources can prevent spills and stress for your pets. If you have cats who love water, it’s also useful to understand their behavior. Many cats are fascinated by moving water because it’s fresher and more stimulating than still water. Providing water fountains or safe water play areas can satisfy their curiosity and keep them hydrated. However, managing multiple water-loving cats requires patience and sometimes accepting the inevitable mess and lively antics. In addition to toys and water tricks, bonding with your cats during these moments adds to the fun. Observing their unique personalities and reactions when faced with new water-related scenarios creates memorable experiences. Sharing these stories with other cat owners or in pet communities online can offer tips and a good laugh, showing that sometimes our best plans can lead to unexpected but delightful outcomes.
