Inspired by a gyro recipe I saw on Instagram, I sliced the oyster mushrooms thinly to mimic the texture of traditional gyro meat. Then, I marinated them with a blend of Mediterranean spices like oregano, garlic powder, and smoked paprika before air frying. The result was a delightful, flavorful filling that paired perfectly with pita, fresh veggies, and a dollop of tangy tzatziki sauce. If you're new to cooking oyster mushrooms this way, start by cleaning them gently with a damp cloth and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. You can experiment with different seasonings or even toss air-fried oyster mushrooms into salads, stir-fries, or pasta dishes. From my experience, using the air fryer provides a nice balance of crispness and tenderness in oyster mushrooms. It’s a great technique to try if you want a quick, oil-light, and tasty meal.
