SAVED FROM THE LANDFILL

I have an annual pass to Walt Disney World and have been in love with working on my journal.

I picked up this Up! Little Golden Book from the Goodwill bins near me and decided to cut it up to use for future ephemera for Animal Kingdom Days.

Looks like I need to plan a trip down to become a Wilderness Explorer right along with Russell.

... Read moreAre you searching for an 'ephemera app' to organize your creative projects or find inspiration? While digital tools offer convenience, there's an undeniable magic in hands-on crafting with physical ephemera. Many crafters, myself included, find immense joy in the tactile experience of collecting and repurposing unique items for our journals and scrapbooks. Let me share how you can create your own vibrant ephemera collection, much like I did with an 'Up!' Little Golden Book, and manage it like a pro – no app required! Finding Your Treasure: Sourcing Unique Ephemera The thrill of the hunt for ephemera is a significant part of the fun! Just like finding that precious 'Up!' Little Golden Book at a Goodwill bin, you can discover incredible pieces in unexpected places. Think beyond specific craft stores. Thrift stores, antique shops, and even your grandmother's attic are goldmines for vintage paper, old postcards, photographs, and unique scraps. Look for items that tell a story or evoke a specific theme. For Disney fans, old park maps, tickets, brochures, or even pages from themed books can be transformed. Imagine cutting out iconic characters like Carl, Russell, Kevin, or Dug from an old storybook to perfectly capture your next Animal Kingdom adventure! Organizing Your Physical Ephemera Collection One of the main reasons people seek an 'ephemera app' is for organization. But you can achieve excellent organization for your physical collection too! Start by categorizing your finds. You might sort by theme (e.g., Disney, nature, vintage), by color, or by type (cut-outs, tickets, fabric scraps). Clear plastic bins, binders with page protectors, accordion folders, and small, labeled drawers are fantastic for storage. I like to keep a small inventory list in a notebook next to my supplies, almost like a manual 'app' that tells me what I have. This helps me quickly 'browse' my collection and find the perfect piece for my next journal spread. Creative Uses & Inspiration Beyond the Journal While my 'Up!' ephemera is destined for my journal, the possibilities are endless. These cut-out characters and elements from the Little Golden Book can be used in scrapbooks, on handmade cards, or in mixed-media art pieces. Think about creating themed pages: a 'Wilderness Explorer' spread with Russell, or a page dedicated to Kevin's antics. Don't be afraid to experiment with layering, distressing, or even adding a touch of glitter to make your pieces pop. The beauty of crafting with physical ephemera is that each piece you create is unique, bearing the touch of your hands and imagination. It’s a rewarding journey that connects you more deeply with your memories and creativity than any digital app ever could.

A person's back shows long, light-colored damaged hair, with an inset close-up revealing severe thinning and breakage on the scalp. The image highlights the impact of 6 years of bleaching, hair extension damage, and diabetic hair thinning and loss.
This image explains how avoiding heat helps hair recovery. High temperatures alter hair's protein structure, convert α-keratin to β-keratin, weaken hair, open cuticles, and strip natural moisture and oils, leading to dryness and damage.
The image illustrates the benefits of using a shower filter for hair health. It removes contaminants like chlorine, lead, and heavy metals that can damage hair, making it rough and dry, and supports a healthy scalp for growth and shine.
How I saved my damaged hair
I absolutely destroyed my hair. I used to bleach my hair every 8 weeks for about 6 years and being a type 1 diabetic (I was newly diagnosed and had uncontrolled blood sugar in the beginning) led to my hair having constant breakage, thinning, never growing, and feeling like straw. I thought the cau
