Arab Gatherings Are Never Just One Dish
Growing up around Arab gatherings taught me that food is never just food. The table is always overflowing, everyone insists you take more, and conversations stretch long after the plates should be cleared. Every dish carries memory, effort, and love. What makes these dinners even more special to me is how rooted they are in Arab culture, yet always open… open to experimenting, open to curiosity, and open to other cuisines and traditions we’ve learned to love along the way.
Some nights it’s classic dishes we grew up with, other nights it’s a mix of flavors from different cultures, all sharing the same table. It’s our way of honoring where we come from while staying curious about the world, letting food be a bridge instead of a boundary. These gatherings remind me that culture isn’t static, it grows, adapts, and becomes richer when it’s shared.
What does a gathering look like in your culture, and do you mix traditions or foods when you bring people together?
