จากประสบการณ์ตรงของคนที่ผ่านการรักษารากฟันมา ต้องบอกเลยว่าการละเลยสุขภาพฟันเป็นสิ่งที่ไม่ควรมองข้ามเลย เพราะหากปล่อยให้ฟันผุจนลึกถึงรากฟัน นอกจากจะเจ็บปวดมากขณะรักษาแล้ว ยังทำให้ต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายสูง และต้องใช้เวลาฟื้นฟูนาน ช่วงแรกหลังจากรักษารากฟัน ปากและเหงือกจะบวมและรู้สึกอ่อนแรง เวลาจะกินอาหารก็ยากลำบาก ต้องเลือกอาหารที่นิ่มและไม่ร้อนมาก เพราะอาจกระตุ้นความเจ็บปวดได้ การใส่ครอบฟัน (crown) หลังรักษารากฟันเป็นขั้นตอนสำคัญ ที่ช่วยปกป้องโครงสร้างฟันที่อ่อนแอ และฟื้นฟูประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยว แนะนำให้ปฏิบัติตามคำแนะนำของทันตแพทย์อย่างเคร่งครัด เช่น หลีกเลี่ยงการเคี้ยวอาหารแข็ง หรือใช้งานฟันผิดวิธี เพื่อยืดอายุครอบฟันให้นานขึ้น สำหรับการดูแลฟันในระยะยาว หลังจากรักษารากฟัน แนะนำให้เข้าพบทันตแพทย์เพื่อตรวจสุขภาพฟันและทำความสะอาดทุก 6 เดือน รวมถึงปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมการดูแลช่องปาก เช่น แปรงฟันอย่างถูกวิธี วันละ 2 ครั้ง ใช้ไหมขัดฟัน หรือผลิตภัณฑ์ช่วยทำความสะอาดฟันนอกเหนือจากแปรงฟัน เพื่อป้องกันฟันผุและปัญหาฟันอื่นๆ จากประสบการณ์จริง การมีวินัยในการดูแลฟันและพบหมอฟันสม่ำเสมอ จะช่วยให้ลดความเสี่ยงในการต้องรักษารากฟัน และช่วยประหยัดค่าใช้จ่าย รวมถึงลดความเจ็บปวดในอนาคต ใครที่ยังลังเลไม่อยากไปรักษาฟัน ลองคิดถึงผลลัพธ์ระยะยาวที่อาจทำให้ต้องเสียเงินเสียเวลาและเจ็บตัวมากขึ้นเป็นต้น อย่ารอให้ฟันผุลึกหรือแตกก่อนจึงค่อยรักษา จะดีกว่ามาก
