Messina in SG v Aussie - worth the premium?

Felly was back in #singapore🇸🇬 a couple of weeks back and decided to give the SG Messina a try!

💰 Price Check: SG vs AU

Messina is known for its quality - they even have their own dairy farm in #aussie producing their own milk! But how does prices differ?

☝️Single Scoop: SGD8.00 vs AUD6.90 (~SGD5.90)

✌️Double Scoop: SGD12.00 vs AUD8.90 (~SGD7.60)

👌Triple Scoop: SGD14.00 vs AUD10.90 (~SGD9.30)

🪣0.5l tub: SGD30.00 vs AUD19.00 (~SGD16.20)

Aussie is as much as 25%-50% cheaper than SG!

That said, if you’re up for a triple scoop (why wouldn’t you), you’re paying SGD4.60 per scoop with no extra charge for premium/seasonal flavours. That’s a big win imo 💯

⭐️ Would we still recommend it?

YES, if you’re in the area.

🍨 You can sample EVERYTHING. Our friend got to try some seasonal samples even AFTER finishing her ice cream

🎁 We estimate they have more than 30 flavour available, including novel flavours like Panna Cotta w/ Fig Jam & Amaretti and Tau Huay

🕒 Now that the crazy queues have disappeared, you don’t have to wait long, especially if you intend to takeaway and have it outside/on the move!

Zee will definitely have Messina the next time he’s #downunder. Till then, Messina SG remains an satisfying #Gelato after dinner/pickleball 🥒

... Read moreHaving sampled Messina gelato both in Singapore and Australia, I can truly appreciate what sets them apart beyond just price. One thing I noticed is that despite the higher prices in Singapore, the overall experience feels more tailored to local tastes with a wider rotation of seasonal and novel flavours like Panna Cotta with Fig Jam and Tau Huay. This variety kept my visits exciting each time. Additionally, the takeaway options in Singapore have really improved. Without the intimidating queues, grabbing a tub or a triple scoop on the go has become seamless, perfect for busy days or post-work treats. The ability to sample multiple flavours before ordering is a huge plus—something I rarely see in other gelato chains. Regarding premium packs and tubs, Messina's 0.5L tubs in Singapore might seem pricey upfront but offer great value for special occasions or sharing. If you're regular about gelato indulgence, it's worth trying their specialty tubs periodically. For anyone wondering "is Messina Australian?" — yes, the brand hails from Australia where they operate their own dairy farm ensuring fresh ingredients, which is a big part of their appeal. In my experience, this focus on quality carries through whether you're enjoying a scoop in Melbourne or Singapore. Lastly, if you’re a gelato enthusiast like me who appreciates unique textures and authentic flavours such as the beloved Italian Nougat or Hokey Pokey, Messina never disappoints. Their rich coffee gelato is another personal favourite that keeps me coming back. Ultimately, if you’re near their Singapore outlets, I highly recommend giving Messina a try—especially a triple scoop to get the best bang for your buck while savoring a taste of Australia right here in the city.
